A builder was lucky to be alive after he was knocked off scaffolding by a piece of timber.

The 38-year-old carpenter escaped death thanks to his hard-hat and a safety rail which stopped him plunging 35 ft.
The drama unfolded at the Gleeson building site in Turner Road, Colchester, yesterday lunchtime. Kevin Beck was lifted from the platform using a harness after he suffered head and neck injuries.
He was kept in overnight at Colchester General Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
His helmet took a blow which caused a nine inch split and will be used as a Health and Safety warning to others.
Ambulance technician Dave Wharton said: "The safety equipment on site and what the man was wearing obviously saved him from an extremely serious injury or worse.
"He is a very lucky bloke. He would have lost several of his nine lives had he been a cat."
He was working on a new £17 million Colchester Primary Care Trust building, which was started in July last year and is scheduled for completion early next year.
