Marcus Poston's venture into the senior Amateur Boxing Association Championships have been given a major lift.
He secured a morale-boosting victory over fierce rival Rocky Mitchell. The Harwich ABC fighter sealed a unanimous points decision win over his New Asterly ABC competitor in Kessingland, Suffolk, to exact revenge for his defeat before Christmas.
His victory, more importantly, saw him claim the Eastern Counties ABA Featherweight title as he looks to make a big impression in his first step into the senior championships.
The 18-year-old now turns his attentions to his next opponent, Home Counties Featherweight champion, Ian Bailey of Slough ABC, for a place in the quarter-finals of the ABA Championships.
Poston, who is rated number six senior featherweight in the country, told the Gazette: "It was good to beat Rocky - especially after he beat me last time."
