A huge blaze which damaged a derelict building is today being treated as suspicious.
About 20 firefighters were sent to the blaze, at the former John Carr works, in Boars Tye Road, Silver End.
The roof of the former joinery collapsed shortly after the alarm was raised just after 5.30pm yesterday.
It took fire crews just over two hours to control the blaze, but the collapsed roof prevented firefighters from entering the building.
Police said the power went out in the village as a result of the fire, from about 6.30pm for 90 minutes.
