Shoebury golfer Richard McEvoy is off to Latin America this week to follow his Challenge Tour dream.
McEvoy, the former Walker Cup amateur international from Thorpe Hall, lost his place on the main European Tour last year after a season.
This term he is playing on the secondary Challenge Tour and got off to a wonderful start before Christmas with victory in the Panasonic Panama Open.
Before the Tour took a Christmas break McEvoy, 25, stood second in the Challenge rankings with winnings of 27,757 euros after three events.
The top 15 in the merit list at the end of this current campaign will earn full Euro Tour cards for 2006.
The Challenge Tour resumed today in Costa Rica with 96,000 euros in prize money available and a first prize of 15,471 euros.
The 2005 Challenge Tour will see members contest the largest prize fund for any single event in its 17 year history at the 600,000 euros Madeira Island Open, as well as making a landmark trip to the Greg Norman designed Real Club de Golf Prat in Barcelona.
Those are just two highlights included in the opening half of the Challenge Tour schedule, which was released this week.
