A multi-million pound casino could soon replace a derelict nightclub, it has been revealed.
Development giants Robert Leonard Group PLC are behind the scheme for the casino, which would be the first in south Essex outside Southend.
Bosses want to transform the disused aQua <OK> club in the Queensgate Centre, Orsett Road, Grays, into a plush gambling haven.
The proposal follows in the footsteps of plans for three "supercasinos" on Southend seafront, brought about by popular demand and the Governments' easing of gambling restrictions.
There is currently no casino between Southend and London.
Neighbour Anne Davison, 27, who also lives in Orsett Road, thought it was a great idea.
She said: "A casino would be good and would bring in a lot more money. I would be in favour of it.
"Having one there cannot be worse than a nightclub."
