Ten-year-old George Harrison, nicknamed "Beatle" by his school teachers after the famous musician, has the lead role of "the boy" in the film Sea-Change by Slinky Productions.

The rising star, a pupil at St Francis School, Maldon, was up against 300 other children in auditions last October.

Unusually, George is the only person starring in the film, set in the 1950s, which follows the lives of people living on a caravan park.

Scenes were shot at Thorney Bay Caravan Park in Canvey Island and George appears in the opening scenes, in which he rides a bike into shot.

George, who attends the Sandra Singer Stage School in Leigh-on-Sea, said: "Shooting the scenes was exciting and the directors and producers were really nice and showed me how the camera equipment worked.

"I really enjoy performing arts and hope to follow in the footsteps of Sandra's other students, who are appearing in West End shows."
