The art gallery to be built at the centre of the St Botolph's regeneration area has been unveiled.
Going for gold - the proposed new art gallery
A model of the gallery to be built on part of the town's Queen Street bus station was revealed at a packed Colchester Arts Centre last night.
Internationally-renowned architect Rafael Vinoly unveiled the final model of the £16.5 million gallery, which will be a centre of contemporary art for the eastern region.
Mr Vinoly was chosen following an international design competition attracting 106 entries.
A planning application will be submitted to Colchester Council in late March or early April, with the opening in October 2007.
