A massive £100,000 is being dished out to help preserve and protect Colchester's heritage.
Colchester Council has just confirmed the release of the cash, the bulk of which - £80,000 - will be spent on the town walls. This is in addition to £50,000 already being spent on the walls.
Philip Wise, the council officer responsible for heritage assets, said: "The existing and the new money will allow us to complete the essential repair work being carried out on the wall in Priory Street.
"In addition, we can now begin to focus on the Roman Road stretch. At the same time we will start to draw up proposals for additional work and funding for other stretches of the town walls."
