Refurbishment work which will transform a 140-year-old school is about to begin.
The £642,000 project at Bocking Church Street Primary School, Braintree, was due to start last month but was put back to mid-February so minor alterations could be made to the original plan.
Builders will remove two temporary classroom blocks, put up a new hall and turn the old school hall into two new classrooms.
The project, which is jointly funded by the school and Essex County Council, is now due to be completed in December.
The new hall will be about one-third bigger than the current one and have storage areas for PE and lunchtime equipment.
