An extra £217,000 has been allocated by Braintree Council for a new swimming pool in the town.
Members of the council's cabinet last night approved the additional funds for the project as well as confirming authority for the pool's sub-group to make the decision to proceed to the next and final design stages.
Members chose to move recommendation the funds were allocated towards the estimated cost of the pool to be built on the Freeport development off Millennium Way, Braintree.
As well as the estimated build costs, the council envisage costs of £200,000 for project staff, £55,000 in retained costs to include surveys and building control, and £50,000 provisional costs for management company Hermes, giving a total of £6,677,000.
