South-East Essex College and Southend United joined forces to play a charity football match for the victims of the Tsunami Disaster and raised £162.
The match was between a College XI and Youth XI from Blues. In a very entertaining game the young Blues won 3-1 but it was not until the late stages of the game that the pros finally took control.
The College XI consisted of sports staff and sports students, all of who whom are playing for good non league teams around the county.
Staff players included Ashley Harrison (Canvey Island), Greg Briggs (Concord Rangers) and Ryan Hodgson (Southend Manor).
From the student side of the team there were some very promising young players on view, including Mike Hart (Bowers & Pitsea), Chris Bourne and Ashley Hawkins (Canvey Island), Dan Wornham (Great Wakering Rovers), Andy Smallbone (Maldon Town) and Lewis Dallas (Burnham Ramblers).
The Southend United Youth XI included the exciting young James Lawson, who has been involved with the first team this season.
