Hundreds of people have flocked to a series of exhibitions as part of the consultation process for a major new road.

Last week, the Highways Agency unveiled its proposal for replacing the existing A120 between Braintree and Marks Tey with a new dual carriageway running north of Cressing and Silver End, between Coggeshall and Kelvedon, and joining the A12 north of Feering.

A series of exhibitions and public consultation exercise on the scheme kicked off in Braintree on Friday and Coggeshall on Saturday.

Members of the public could view detailed plans of the proposed road, quiz Highways Agency staff about the project, and see a computer-generated view from the air of the entire route.

The Green Party has launched a campaign against the proposed southern route and called for any new road to stick close to the existing A120 corridor.

People who missed the first two public exhibitions can see the details of the A120 proposal from 1pm to 8pm on Friday, at Kelvedon Institute in Kelvedon High Street, and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, at St Andrew's Church in Marks Tey.
