Michael England returned to his old school to give budding singers a helping hand with rehearsals of their next show.

Colchester's Philip Morant School is getting set to stage Les Miserables.

Their former star pupil was musical director of the massive blockbuster when it played in the West End, as well as Phantom of the Opera and the notorious Jerry Springer the Opera.

Mr England frequently comes back to his home town to help with productions such as the Colchester Schools Prom at Charter Hall.
