AFTER seemingly rescuing their season with an undefeated run of six games, Wakering are in danger of again being dragged into the Southern League Division One East relegation area.
Their 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Hertfordshire visitors still nursing promotion ambitions was a third on the trot and, with a visit to second-placed East Thurrock looming next Saturday, the immediate prospects do not look good.
On Saturday Tony Cross's men gave a debut to former Chelmsford City midfielder Adam Holmes, while ex-East Thurrock man Jerome Boyce was introduced as a late substitute.
But Rovers went 1-0 down in the fourth minute when Chris Watters put Boreham Wood ahead. Leon Archer wrapped things up with a fine 32nd-minute goal.
