I'm Leaving You by the OJs, which is more than 40-years-old, was the most expensive rarity vinyl collectors could get their hands on at the St Clare's Hospice shop in Maldon High Street.
Store manager Maureen Chaplin said the start of the charity shop's fifth record sale was better than its last one in October, with collectors digging through its crates for up to two hours after the doors opened at 9am on Saturday.
She said: "It's been absolutely fantastic. There were about 30 people outside first thing in the morning. Some of them were definitely from out of town."
