Three heroes who rescued a woman and her grandaughter from drowning in the sea off Clacton are to receive prestigious awards for their bravery.
Senior beach patrol officer Ryan Carvey and seasonal waterfront warden Jamie Sacre were on duty at the beach when they were alerted to screaming in the water.
They were joined by Phillip Ellison, who was in a rubber dinghy with his step-daughter, and swam over to help.
The three men got both casualties - who had been face down in the sea - back safely to the shore.
Now the trio are to be honoured by the Royal Humane Society.
Mr Carvey, 20, of Eastcliff Avenue, is to receive a testimonial on parchment and his Tendring Council colleague Mr Sacre, also 20, of Oliver Close is to get a certificate of commendation.
Mr Ellision, 29, of Eldred Avenue, Colchester, is also receiving a certificate of commendation.
