Punters who use Ladbrokes in Newland Street, Witham, have helped donate nearly £2,000 to Farleigh Hospice.
The group of 35 to 40 people take part in the Farleigh Flutter.
Customers pick as many horses as they would like on a Saturday race day. They may only bet 50p a horse and any winnings go into a pool.
At the end of six weeks the person with the most winners gets half the pool. The other half is set aside for the hospice.
