Pet owner Geoffrey Haig-Thomas has vowed to clean up his act after he won a dog fouling court appeal.

He had been fined £400 by magistrates but this was cut to just £75 after he successfully appealled against his sentence.

But at the same time, a Chelmsford Crown Court judge warned Haig-Thomas he was facing escalating fines if he offended again.

"This is totally unacceptable behaviour," Judge Frank Lockhart told the 63-year-old.

"Your dog's mess is someone else's misery and you have got to accept that."
