Plans have been unveiled for the site of the landmark Army and Navy pub in Chelmsford.
Turnstone Estates, based in Springfield Road, Chelmsford, has bought the site of the pub, which is closed, and an adjoining timber yard, which is relocating, for an undisclosed amount.
It is working with Chelmsford Council on plans to develop the 1.4 acre site, alongside the flyover on Parkway for retail and residential use.
Chris Goldsmith, director, said the mixed-use scheme, which will include a restaurant, will "not be far off the £10 million mark".
He said: "We are working with the planners at the moment and hope to submit a planning application in about three months. If permission is granted we could start work at the tail end of the year.
"It's very exciting. I was born and bred in the area so I know what a prominent site this is."
