The U's suffered a cruel sucker-punch to lose out on at least a point against Blackpool in the Coca-Cola League One on Saturday.
The Seasiders broke and scored through their first chance of the second period after they had been pinned back by Parkinson's charges for the majority of the half.
They went on to win 1-0 with the solitary goal from Simon Grayson.
It was a cruel way to lose out and it put a whole different spin on how Parkinson had to deal with his team this morning.
He said: "At 0-0 I would have said, we simply didn't have enough quality to break them down. We would have had a clean sheet and it would be a case of we'll take that and see you Monday.
"However, getting caught on a sucker-punch like that was a real blow for us.
"We have got to bounce back now. It's a horrible feeling when you get beaten, whether you're a supporter, player, manager or a manger's wife, it's horrible for everyone connected with football.
"All we can do is regroup and move on to the next game."
It means that the U's home record goes from bad to worse. They have now lost seven League games at home, while last season they only went down four times at Layer Road.
