A charity was today celebrating scooping more than £40,000 to help it set up a new project in Clacton.
Help the Aged has been awarded the lottery cash and hopes to get the initiative off the ground in April.
The money will be used to provide a range of befriending opportunities to help improve the quality of life for older people living in residential care homes in the Clacton area.
Thomas Bland, senior manager in Help the Aged's fundraising department, said an application for the grant had been made to the Big Lottery Fund last year.
