People living in Maldon's Wantz Road have won their battle to get authorities to slow down traffic.
Maldon District Council's planning committee has agreed to put a new zebra crossing on the busy road, near its junctions with America Street and Wantz Chase.
Essex County Council had allowed district councillors to decide the matter in line with traffic regulation orders, after views from the Wantz Road Area Residents' Group (Wrag).
A spokesman from Essex County Council said the crossing will be designed and modified to suit the road's conditions.
