Police today warned drivers to avoid a busy stretch of the A13 which is creating a major headache for motorists.
The replacement of a 450-metre stretch of gas pipes between the Victoria House roundabout and the Waggon and Horses pub on the A13 in Hadleigh is leading to long tailbacks in rush hour.
PC Mark Adderley of Rayleigh traffic police called for drivers to try and seek an alternative route to cut out the gridlock.
He said: "It's been horrendous this past week. We would advise drivers to avoid the area if at all possible."
