A lorry driver accused of causing death by dangerous driving has been remanded in custody.
Alexis Degrendele - charged with causing death by dangerous driving 40837-1
Alexis Degrendele, 28, of France, did not give an indication of his pleas during a short hearing at Colchester Magistrates' Court yesterday.
On Monday an articulated lorry and a van were involved in a collision on the A120 at Broad Green. Michael Motley, of Boleyns Road, Braintree, died in the crash.
Degrendele, of Rue Principale, Huclier, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He also faces charges of making and using a false instrument, namely a tachograph.
Magistrates ruled the case should go straight to crown court and remanded Degrendele in custody until February 8, when he is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court.
