The deprived state of Jaywick is to be taken up with Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Residents are growing increasingly concerned about their environment - and feel they need to highlight the matter at the very top.
They are compiling a dossier of photographs and press cuttings from the Gazette to show the extent of the problem they face and will send it off to 10 Downing Street.
The Jaywick Action Group hopes the move will bring about some kind of urgent action.
Essex county and Tendring councillor Roy Smith said residents had had enough.
"We know there have been constructive talks about a way forward but all this is going to take time," he said.
"We feel we have to do something which will help move things along a little quicker."
