Pupils from year one at White Court Primary School, Great Notley, near Braintree, took rock'n'roll dance lessons as part of a Shake, Rattle and Roll project.
Teacher Victoria Nolan said: "The kids had a great time. We've been studying the 1950s, as the children find it easier to understand.
"They bring in photographs of their grandparents to show. We also tie it in with other lessons, like music. I've got my class into Elvis at last!"
