A woman woke up to find a teenager in her home who had been sick at the top of the stairs after drinking at a party in another house.
Insp Paul Butcher, of Clacton police, said the woman raised the alarm and the teenager was taken out of her home. But the 18-year-old then ran off. The incident happened in Old Road, Clacton, at 2.20am.
Insp Butcher said police gave chase and caught up with the teenager in the car park at the Waterglade Retail Park. He was given a fixed penalty ticket for being drunk and disorderly.
Insp Butcher said: "This was a disgraceful example of the effects binge drinking can have on innocent members of the public."
