Colchester's Interbike rider Shaun Aldous performed well at the Eastern Cyclo-Cross Association league.
Aldous was the round-14 runner-up at the West Stow Country Park event, near Mildenhall.
Seventy-three keen cyclo-cross riders, of all ages, rattled around the course with the bumps and the ruts taking their toll on the competitors.
Organised by Mandy Cook of the promoting Mildenhall CC, the course was tough and technical, which made overtaking difficult and falling off easy.
The fast men suffered on the uneven terrain and showed the tiredness which marks the end of a long season.
Main race winner was Graham Rogerson of the Army CU, who comes from Gillingham.
Runner-up Aldous, also a league winner, was faster and smoother on the gravel sections but admitted he was no match for Rogerson on the bumps.
