Castle Point Boxing Club are back training in the former 1066 pub after a frustrating few months absence.

The Canvey based club were kicked out of the Long Road location after safety fears arose concerning the roof.

But they have now returned to the site and have been further boosted by the purchase of a new ring - funded by local businessmen Gary Cox.

"I used to fight for the club myself a few years ago and when I read the article in the Echo saying they needed a bit of help I rung up the coach Terry Dainty and was delighted to be able to help out," he said.

"It's packed out down there when they train now and it's great to see."
