Stansted owner BAA is still on course to handle six per cent more passengers than it did last year despite a slowdown in traffic in the run-up to Christmas.
The company, which runs seven airports, including Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick, handled a record 110.6 million passengers in the nine months to New Year's Eve.
This represents a 6.5 per cent rise on a year ago.
