Walton's world-renowned environmental site Hamford Water will be celebrating World Wetlands Day today.
It is one of 20 Ramsar sites in the eastern region which have been helped by funding from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
The marshland sites, which are a breeding ground for countless species of plants and animals, were designated under the convention of wetlands.
The day is aimed at raising public awareness and promote conservation.
Hamford Water is famous for being the setting for author Arthur Ransome's best-selling book Secret Water.
Hamford Water is also a designated area of special scientific interest, a special protection area and an English nature reserve.
