A 12-year-old boy was lucky to escape serious injury when he was involved in a collision with a car.
The youngster was cycling along at the junction of Dyer's Road and Blackberry Road in Stanway, Colchester, when it happened. An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle were sent out to the collision at about 8.20am yesterday.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "The 12-year-old Colchester boy has escaped serious injury. He had a cut above his right eye, he knocked a tooth out and cracked another and had pain in his right leg.
"He was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment. There is no doubt that anyone who survives a collision with a car has had a lucky escape."
He added that the 24-year-old Colchester woman driving the car complained of neck pain and a second ambulance was sent.
She was taken to hospital with possible whiplash after having a neck collar applied and being placed on a backboard as a precaution.
