An elderly couple had an extraordinary escape after their car came off the Army and Navy flyover and landed on its roof.
The accident happened at about 2.20pm yesterday and caused traffic chaos for Chelmsford motorists.
The 85-year-old man and his 84-year-old wife, of Great Baddow, escaped with minor injuries and were both taken to Broomfield Hospital for a check-up.
Jon Moore, of Essex Ambulance Service, said: " They really were extremely lucky. They landed on the roundabout that comes into town. Had anything been coming the other way at just the wrong moment, this might have been an awful lot more serious."
