Pensioners who feel isolated since the number of buses in their road was halved have launched a campaign to have the service restored.
Almost 700 people have signed copies of a letter complaining about reductions on the 101 route, which runs from Outwood Common and Queen's Park in Billericay to Basildon.
The service no longer goes to Basildon Hospital, Orsett Hospital or Lakeside.
The petition was organised by residents of Queen's Park Court in Goldington Crescent.
They say hourly buses are not enough, especially when they run late or can be cancelled.
Bobbie Bowtell, 64, said: "People are feeling really cut."
