A woman today told of the terrifying moment riot police hunting an armed burglar burst into her home - to find they had the wrong address.
Officers smashed down 28-year-old Wendy Jones's front door in the early hours of the morning and pinned her to the floor while they searched her flat, in Worcester Drive, Rayleigh.
They were looking for a man with a stun gun - but minutes later realised they had got the wrong address.
Mother-of-two Mrs Jones said: "It was about 3am when I heard a loud banging. I looked through the door spy hole and saw about ten riot police gathered outside.
"They were looking at the flat opposite when all of a sudden they turned around and looked at me and started shouting to open up.
"I opened the top latch but they banged against the door and after two or three hits they got in."
Mrs Jones was on her own in her flat that night as her children were staying at her mother's house.
"They pinned me to the floor while they searched the flat," she said. "I tried to get up but they wouldn't let me."
