Two bars on a village holiday park can carry on staging music and dancing - despite a complaint over the way they operate.

Bourne Leisure applied for a renewal of its public entertainment licences for both the Show Bar and the Poolside Bar on Point Clear Holiday Park.

But nearby resident Roger Dedman, of Eastern Promenade, objected to the move. He complained there was no proper security during and after events and people leaving the site disturbed his sleep.

But Alan Smith, representing Bourne Leisure, said the company actually employed a top security firm run by former Great Britain shot putter Geoff Capes.

He said there were two staff on the park all day and that increased to four at night. There were also up to eight security staff at the two bars after 6pm.

Mr Smith added that there were ten internal cameras and 15 external ones. He felt that only one person complaining about noise did not present a problem.

Tendring Council's licensing sub-committee granted the renewal, with hours of midday to midnight seven days a week.
