Works will take place for six weeks to install a new sewer in Braintree.
The work, in Panfield Lane, will start on Monday and continue until the end of March. The sewer will serve about 120 new properties being built by Countryside Homes on the Gypsy Corner site.
A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "We will be using directional drilling underground to minimise disruption. There will be no traffic implications.
"We have also contacted residents in the affected area and a letter drop has gone out. We are working closely with Highways and Countryside to make sure everything is co-ordinated and done as quickly as we can."
