Fresh information about the murder of a Colchester woman 30 years ago has prompted police to issue a new appeal.
Kay O'Connor was murdered in 1974 at her home in Wickham Road, Colchester. A neighbour found her on the kitchen floor strangled and stabbed to death, on March 1, 1974.
The Evening Gazette exclusively revealed in August last year that police had received new information, when they launched an appeal into several other murders in the county.
Essex Police said today that as a result of the information received in the summer, Mrs O'Connor's family are supportive of the case being reviewed and featured in the latest appeal.
Crimestoppers and the police joined forces to launch the unsolved murders campaign in July last year. Although Mrs O'Connor's case was not featured, the appeal prompted fresh information.
