Youngsters were shocked and angry after a vandal threw a rock at their school bus, hitting a girl on the head.
The incident happened on the A133 at Frating yesterday afternoon, just before 4.30pm.
The double decker Cedric's bus had collected pupils from schools including St Benedict's, St Mary's and Colchester County High School for Girls, all in Colchester, and was taking pupils home to the Frinton and Walton area.
Ambulance technician, Rob Knights, said: "The rock went through a side window on the lower level of the bus, striking a 13-year-old girl from Tendring village. Fortunately, she was not hurt badly and was not knocked unconscious."
The girl was taken to Colchester General Hospital with a 13-year-old girl from Kirby Cross and a 12-year-old girl from Frinton. All three were being treated for possible glass splinters in the face.
