Commuters on the A120 could face more delays as one lane of the dual carriageway is closed.

The inside lane of the road's eastbound carriageway, about two miles ahead of Panners Junction, Braintree, will be closed for up to three weeks from next Monday, to let workers build a noise barrier next to the highway boundary.

The work is one of the last parts of the £90 million Stansted to Braintree A120 dual carriageway project to be completed.

A spokesman for Essex County Council said: "The noise barrier is part of the original A120 scheme and was discussed in the public inquiry.

"The improvements are likely to be carried out in normal working hours and although we are not expecting severe delays, we will be monitoring the situation".
