The grieving mother of murdered student Sally Geeson is pushing for an inquiry into why her daughter's killer was allowed back into the Army after abducting another woman.

Sue Geeson, 46, will write to Rochford and Southend East MP Sir Teddy Taylor to ask for his support in getting answers from the Ministry of Defence.

Mrs Geeson, of Cornworthy, Shoebury, heard at Sally's inquest yesterday (thurs) how killer soldier David Atkinson was a "sexual predator" who had attacked other women.

Several women suspected of being attacked by him have come forward since Sally's tragic death on New Year's Day.

She said: "I want to know why he was allowed to continue in the Army. If things had been different maybe we would still have Sally with us."

Sir Teddy has already written to Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon asking for the matter to be looked into but is yet to receive a reply.

Det Insp Supt Garry Swain of Cambridgeshire police said yesterday he was sure Atkinson had committed "a number of" other assaults on woman, both in Cambridge where he was stationed and in other areas.
