Canvey soccer boss Jeff King looks set to be in the rare position of naming virtually an unchanged squad for tomorrow's Nationwide Conference visit to Crawley Town.
Gulls' line-up from last week's 3-0 home success over Stevenage - which completed their first Conference double - is likely to be named for the visit to Sussex although midfielder Tommy Williamson, forced off in the early stages with a foot injury, is unlikely to make it.
Having strung together a run of five home league games without defeat the Islanders will be anxious to end a poor away Conference run which has seen them suffer five defeats, scoring only two goals while conceding 14, since they triumphed 4-1 at Stevenage in early October.
Crawley may have inadvertently given their visitors a boost with talk of how the Sussex side could afford to be smug as they have, against pre-season expectations, done much better than Canvey since being promoted.
It's suggested that the hosts should be in an for an easy three points to keep their play-off hopes alive.
Crawley currently stand fifth in the table with 11 points more than Jeff King's men, who have played a game less and are down in 16th place.
Said Canvey boss Jeff King: "League tables don't lie, but the stark truth is that we've drawn far too many home games and could have been up there with them if we'd converted a few of them into victories."
