The Chelmsford Spectacular should be reinstated.
That is the view of a borough councillor, who thinks a "revised and reinvigorated" event should take place in 2008.
Liberal Democrat councillor Phil Harvey was yesterday due to ask the cabinet to set up a Spectacular panel to prepare for the rebirth of the event in three years.
"The council regrets that no attempt has been made to continue with a family-based package of the type which has made the Chelmsford Spectacular so successful over the last 15 years," said Mr Harvey.
"The cabinet should set up a panel to develop appropriate ideas for family events to be held in a suitable location, Central Park or Admirals Park for example, in 2005, 2006 and 2007, with the aim of reintroducing a revised and reinvigorated Spectacular in 2008."
The summer music event was given the chop by Chelmsford Council's cabinet in December for being outdated and losing money.
