Ipswich Town are rumoured to be interested in highly-rated Colchester United star Greg Halford.
The Chelmsford-born young gun is being tracked by a host of clubs including Arsenal, Charlton and Blackburn Rovers.
Now Town are also thought to be interested, with boss Joe Royle ready to make a move if his side are successful in winning promotion to the Premiership. Blues chief scout Colin Suggett has watched the player several times this season.
Halford has emerged as one of the stars of the Colchester team and was in scintillating form in Tuesday's 5-0 destruction of Walsall.
