Cyclists who put their lives and others in danger are set to be targeted by police.
Officers in Harwich are launching a month-long campaign in the area to clamp down on people who cycle on pavements, without lights or with unroadworthy bikes.
Sgt Peter Wood said: "A number of residents and some people from the blind community have asked the police to make it an issue of high priority."
Throughout February, officers will take to the streets to ensure everyone knows the laws regarding bikes with both uniformed patrols and specials doing spot-checks.
