Detectives are hunting a thief who sneaked into the back of a shop and grabbed bags of money.
The intruder escaped with about £200 from the One Stop convenience store in Hunwicke Road in Greenstead, Colchester, at about 1.50pm on Saturday.
Police today issued a description of the man and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He was white, 20 to 30 years old, had a local accent, a large build and tied-back auburn hair.
Colin Stiff, of Colchester police, said the man was seen in the shop then ran off towards Hawthorn Avenue, possibly escaping in a Ford Escort car.
