A shipping company has sailed in with a £5,000 donation to help Sea Cadets take part in a major national event.
Maersk has confirmed it will put up the cash to ensure youngsters do not miss out on celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar.
Harwich MP Ivan Henderson, chairman of the all-party parliamentary group on Sea Cadets, said he was delighted with the windfall.
"Maersk have been incredibly generous and I am hoping that more companies in the maritime industry will follow their example," he said.
Mr Henderson is keen for all cadets, including those in Clacton and Walton in his constituency, to be involved in the prestigious event.
Last year he made a plea for Government cash to be made available towards the costs so that every unit across the country could be involved.
