Great Bradfords Junior School, in Marlborough Road, Braintree, has replaced its chocolate bars, biscuits and crisps with apples, oranges and salads.
The permanent change took place on Thursday during the school's healthy initiative day.
A sponsored skipping competition was held and the school's cooked meals and packed lunches included more fruit and vegetables than usual.
