West Ham full-back Chris Powell is determined to take a positive attitude into Sunday's home match with Derby County - despite the disappointment of last week's loss at Wolves.
Like everyone else he is baffled and frustrated by the team's inconsistent results.
However, he believes the team showed many bright signs in the defeat at Molineux and expects to carry that forward this weekend when he faces his former club.
"At times we played really well, even though it's probably an odd thing to say when you lose 4-2," said the former Southend defender.
"We know we have a helluva squad but we don't want to run out of games before putting things right.
"If you look at the performance of Mark Noble in the last few games you can see the long-term future is good, but we need to look to the immediate future."
