Two learning institutions in Braintree and Witham have benefited from more than £1.5m of European funding.
Braintree College and Braintree Council, which owns the Witham Technology Centre, have been awarded grants of £685,183 and £969,923 respectively.
The grants are part of £4.3m funding for north Essex from the European Social Fund (ESF) and are being used to increase access to learning and skills opportunities in the county.
Jacquie Watts, principal of Braintree College, Church Lane, said: "We are really very pleased with the funding.
"As a college, we have taken a new approach and have submitted lots of bids, and we have got them all."
